Quiet forest town and capital of Falkreath Hold, best known for its large cemetery and its lumber. The Daedric quest Ill Met by Moonlight begins at its graveyard and a nearby plot can be bought for Lakeview Manor.

Falkreath is the capital of Falkreath Hold, a small logging town in the pine forests of southern Skyrim near the borders with Cyrodiil and Hammerfell. The road east leads to the ruins of Helgen and on toward Riverwood, passing Lake Ilinalta. The Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary hides in the hills west of town, and Bleak Falls Barrow, the first main quest dungeon, lies within the hold.
The town is one main street. The Jarl's Longhouse is the seat of government. Dead Man's Drink is the inn, run by Valga Vinicia. Gray Pine Goods (Bolund and Solaf) sells general goods, Grave Concoctions (Zaria) sells potions, and Lod works the forge outside Lod's House. The Hall of the Dead, tended by the priests Runil and Kust, opens onto the largest graveyard in Skyrim, which is the town's claim to fame. Dengeir's House and the Falkreath Barracks, with the jail, complete the street.
The young Jarl Siddgeir, an Imperial supporter, rules from the longhouse with Nenya as steward and Helvard as his housecarl. If the Stormcloaks take the hold, his uncle Dengeir of Stuhn becomes Jarl with Tekla as steward. When you become Thane, Rayya is assigned as your housecarl. There is no house for sale in the town itself, but with Hearthfire you can buy land for Lakeview Manor, north of Pinewatch between Falkreath and Riverwood. The plot costs 5,000 gold from Nenya. Siddgeir sends you a letter offering it once you reach level 9; otherwise complete his Rare Gifts favor and Kill the Bandit Leader. Dengeir, if he is Jarl, allows the purchase right away. Lod's search for a lost dog starts A Daedra's Best Friend, and Sinding in the barracks jail starts Ill Met By Moonlight, both Daedric quests. Runil asks you to recover his journal in A Dying Wish, Dengeir gives Dark Ancestor and Some Light Theft, and Siddgeir hands out Rare Gifts, Kill the Bandit Leader and Dungeon Delving. Runil at the Hall of the Dead also trains Conjuration.
Falkreath is in the forested south of the map, west of Helgen and Lake Ilinalta, near the Cyrodiil border. It is the capital of Falkreath Hold.
